A well‑prepared transition regarding »Workforce Training« at Fraunhofer IFAM As of March 1, 2026, Dr. Erik Meiss will take over leadership of the Workforce Training and Technology Transfer department, succeeding Prof. Dr. Andreas Gross at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen. Since 1994, Andreas has been instrumental in building and shaping workforce education Fraunhofer IFAM. Over more than three decades, he developed his team strategically, contributed as a lecturer across numerous training formats, represented Fraunhofer IFAM nationally and internationally, and drove project acquisition across all levels of education. Through his strong engagement in national and international committees and standardization bodies, he has advanced adhesive bonding technology in Germany and beyond, significantly. We sincerely thank Andreas for his outstanding commitment and lasting impact. With Erik taking the lead, the department will continue its success story. Having been part of Fraunhofer IFAM since 2008, he has been a key contributor in developing the Training Center for Adhesive Bonding Technology and, in expanding the workforce education portfolio through national and international cooperation. His work combines scientific depth, practical relevance and strong engagement in professional and certification bodies. Based on the achievements so far, Erik and his team will strengthen the scientific profile, quality standards as well as the international visibility of the education program.
