🚢 This vessel could still be sailing in 2040. Many of the vessels operating today will remain part of Europe’s fleet for years to come. That is exactly why shipping needs solutions that deliver results today, not only on the vessels of the future. This week, the #AIMPERES consortium officially kicked off in Paderborn. With partners from across Europe, we are launching a new Horizon Europe project that combines AI, emissions monitoring and digital twins to reduce fuel consumption and emissions across the existing fleet. As project coordinator, Fraunhofer IEM is bringing together partners from across Europe to develop and demonstrate a modular energy management system for inland, coastal and deep-sea vessels. Our goal: turn operational data into better decisions and better decisions into greater efficiency, lower fuel consumption and measurable emission reductions. AIMPERES is a team effort. Together with Universiteit Antwerpen, Antwerp Maritime Academy, Centrale Nantes, STC Next, Navalprogetti Srl, Nestra B.V., NAVTOR, transtal shipping bv and Maritime CleanTech, we aim to demonstrate how AI can help make the existing fleet more efficient and sustainable. We look forward to the next three years of collaboration and innovation. #HorizonEU
