A little bit of fun ๐Ÿ˜… for Monday morning AND closing the series of 5 ingredients ๐Ÿ‘‡ on how to build a great, global people function: #5 Finding a common language. Being a German rooted company that has gone international for many years now, doesn't make us truly global ๐ŸŒ in our mindset. A global mindset means, that we respect all the different local flavours ๐Ÿฅ‘๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿฅ’ and preferences, but when we come together we find our common ground, our culture that is all-encompassing ๐Ÿฅ— and all-inclusive. So, what will be our common language when we come together? What language will we speak so that people feel they belong, they can engage, participate and be included? ๐ŸŽถ Is it fair to say that we should all speak English now? Is that inclusive? There is the native English-speakers with all their different accents, there is people that were asked to learn German instead of English, there is the young people that all seem to know English (โ€ฆreally?), there is the people that have jobs where a 2nd language is just not required, there is people that migrated from other countries and already learned the local language as their 2nd language - can we ask them to learn a 3rd language now? So here is the idea: We founded the Broken-English Club. Broken English - the most used language in the world - and we invite everyone to mix up their local accents with their level of English and makes it easy for everyone to speak up. Just take the obvious and turn it around in a fun way. Belonging and inclusion can definitely be achieved with a good portion of humour. Gotta laugh a little! And remember: it is better to be in the Broken-English than in the Broken-Heart ๐Ÿ’” Club.
