🌍 Want to live longer AND better? 💨 No, not the Philosopher's Stone (only the real ones will get that reference 🪄 ). I'm talking clean air. When the subject matter turns to air pollution, the conversation often becomes full of wild numbers and jargon 🫣 ... micrograms per cubic meter, emission sources, or policy targets. But what if we switched up the narrative? A great example of this is the 2023 Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) by Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC). It translates air pollution data into something deeply human: life expectancy. Instead of abstract statistics, it shows us clearly and personally, how many years of life we stand to gain from cleaner air. That’s a message that goes straight to the heart, and to the head. Because “living longer” isn't just an environmental goal. It’s a human one. It’s about families, communities, and the simple, shared desire for more time. This image from the AQLI reveals how dramatically life expectancy varies across the world due to the air we breathe. It’s a stark reminder that clean air isn’t just a policy issue, it’s about the length and quality of our lives. 🫁 Let’s make air quality a conversation about the gains, not just the losses. P.S. my goal is to have the personal exposure equivalent to this map (outdoor air, indoor air - the whole shebang)
