Fortum to end coal-fired power generation in Finland by closing Meri-Pori power plant in spring 2027 ⚡️ Fortum will take the final step in its coal phase-out in Finland as the Meri-Pori power plant closes next spring. Together with the City of Pori and partners, Fortum will continue developing the area into a nationally significant clean transition industrial zone to enable new investments and jobs. With its existing energy infrastrucutre and deep-water port, Tahkoluoto offers strong foundation for future industrial growth and low-carbon solutions.
