Cheaper oil does not mean cheaper freight. Here's why 👇 Oil prices have fallen well off their highs from earlier this year. Container shipping rates have been climbing steeply. A contradiction? Not really. The two measure different things, on different timelines: - Oil reacts to geopolitics within a day while bunker surcharges are only passed on by carriers with a time lag - More importantly, fuel is only one cost input for carriers – capacity & demand are really what drive shipping rates More on what's actually moving the market in Q3 in our webinar next week: https://lnkd.in/exSG2eUy
