Happy International Women’s Day. Now Let’s Talk About Why 64% of Young Women Want to Become Entrepreneurs. Happy International Women’s Day to every woman breaking barriers, building businesses, and redefining what leadership looks like in 2026. The data shows something INCREDIBLE happening: 64% of young women now aspire to become entrepreneurs, with Generation Z and Millennial women leading the trend. Women-led startups generate higher returns per dollar invested compared to male-led ventures. Women entrepreneurs identify as primary financial decision-makers at higher rates than other groups. The innovation, resilience, and vision women bring to entrepreneurship is transforming industries. But here’s the question we need to ask alongside the celebration: WHY are so many women choosing entrepreneurship over traditional employment? Part of it is empowerment, autonomy, and the desire to create meaningful impact through their work. That’s genuine and worth celebrating. But part of it is also that traditional hiring systems FAIL women disproportionately. Resume gaps from maternity leave get penalized. Career breaks to care for family members trigger algorithm rejections. Non-linear career paths that women navigate more frequently than men don’t fit the credential-based screening models most companies use. When credential-based AI hiring systems auto-reject qualified women for having gaps or non-traditional backgrounds, entrepreneurship stops being just an empowered choice. For many, it becomes the ONLY viable path. ForceTechh Take Women shouldn’t have to start businesses just to bypass broken hiring systems. Entrepreneurship should be a choice driven by vision and opportunity, not a workaround for algorithms that can’t evaluate capability beyond resume aesthetics. PLCD evaluates what people can actually DO through real work demonstrations. Career gaps don’t matter. Non-linear paths don’t matter. Maternity leave doesn’t matter. Just demonstrated capability in real work scenarios. Our college partnership programs launching this year create work-based learning pathways that give women verified portfolios of capability before entering the workforce. When they graduate, they have proof of what they built, not just credentials that hiring algorithms might penalize for not following traditional timelines. Celebrate women entrepreneurs today. But also build hiring systems that give women real choices instead of forcing them into entrepreneurship because traditional employment paths are blocked. Happy International Women’s Day to every woman building something extraordinary, whether through entrepreneurship or breaking through in traditional careers. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenEntrepreneurs #WomenInBusiness #FutureOfWork #GenderEquity
