What does regenerative agriculture look like when farmers and scientists build the evidence together? In this Foodomics & Society case study, learners are introduced to the 1000 Farms Initiative in rural Montana, where scientists and farming communities are working together to generate data that supports a transition toward regenerative agriculture. The case explores how soil health, ecosystem health, food quality, and nutritional density are connected through a systems-based approach. For learners and educators, it offers a practical example of how data-driven solutions depend not only on scientific measurement, but also on valuing the knowledge, priorities, and lived experience of farmers. This collaborative approach shows how relationship-centered science can support human and planetary health. š This is a case study from the Food EDU course Foodomics & Society, Module 3: Data-Driven Solutions for Human and Planetary Health.
