Are you ready for a heart-warming story? 11-year-old Ariya loves Lucky Charms. When she was grocery shopping with her mom, she saw a box of Lucky Charms that cost $10 and was shocked by how something she eats all the time could cost so much. She wondered how families without a lot of money could afford any groceries at all! Ariya decided to use her Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council service project to raise money for Food Banks Mississauga to help her neighbours in need. She created and painted ceramic crosses and sold them at her church for $3.00 a piece, sharing: “For just $3, you can take home a handmade and hand-painted Cross of Hope while helping make a difference for those in our community facing hunger.” When Ariya and her dad dropped off the money she raised ($188!), she brought smiles to all of our faces! It’s so inspiring to see young people like Ariya caring about their neighbours and taking action to make a difference in their community. Thank you, Ariya, for your fundraising efforts and for sharing a “Little Piece of Hope” with us all! 🥹 💜🌈
