🛞 What Makes Us Different 🛞? Most food banks focus on volume. We focus on value. We don't serve more people. We serve people more. Recently, our Co-Founder, Christopher Miroslaw, audited the forensic reality of the poverty gap in Metro Vancouver. Single-parent families with disabilities face a brutal financial wall: they spend 73.4% of their benefit income just to pay market value rent ($2,150 Metro Vancouver). This leaves them with a monthly deficit of $1,492 just to reach the Canada poverty level, MBM. But the crisis extends beyond those struggling to stay housed. We also see the youth who are couch-surfing or sleeping in cars—they aren't "technically" homeless by traditional definitions, but they are clearly unhoused and still go to school or work These young people are invisible to the system. That is why we partner with front-line heroes like ACCESS Youth Outreach Services Society in Port Coquitlam. They operate a mobile outreach hub—a minivan that meets these marginalized youth exactly where they are. 🚐 For the past five years, we have had the absolute privilege of sharing our donated and rescued food with their incredible team.
