When it comes to managing food allergy anxiety, we can break it down into three basic steps: 1. Exploring and understanding it. 2. Engaging in actions to address it. 3. Using coping skills to help manage it. Now, that doesn't mean food allergy anxiety is always easy to manage, but simplifying what to do with it can help you feel more empowered and ready to address it. So, if food allergy anxiety is making life feel very challenging for you these days, use the 3 practical steps in this post to help you begin to understand, address, and manage it differently...so that your anxious thoughts stop bossing you around! 1. Explore your worries and anxious "what if" thoughts so you truly understand them - this will help you address them more effectively. 2. Ask questions and gather information from your allergist and allergy care team that helps you address these worries - this helps you determine if you need to be avoiding everything your mind tells you to avoid out of anxiety, and you can use this information as important reminders when feeling anxious. 3. Identify and use coping skills to help your mind and body calm and ground itself - this is especially helpful when you begin stepping out of your comfort zone and taking different actions that aren't aimed at calming your anxiety, but rather living life the way you want to (while still doing so safely). And if you've found other strategies and tools to help you manage your food allergy anxiety and worries, please feel free to share them with others in the comments. .
