It’s my son’s birthday this week. 🎂 We just returned from a 3,500 km road trip across Europe — the most beautiful summer we’ve experienced as a family. One moment will stay with me forever: he swallowed an ice cube the wrong way, nearly fainted, and for a split second, everything stopped. In that instant, I felt closer to him than ever before. That moment reminded me why I co-founded Aware with Ferdinand Schmidt-Thomé five years ago. After navigating health challenges alone, I wanted to help create a world where staying healthy is the norm — not something we strive for only once something has gone wrong. Since then, Aware has grown from an idea into something that’s starting to touch society at scale — from opening labs across Europe, to our partnership with DM in Germany, to building digital products that put proactive health into people’s hands. And yet, we are only just getting started. I’m delighted to share that we are strengthening our leadership team with Henrik Siemers, who will be stepping in to guide Aware into its next chapter. I will continue to contribute in my role as a board member, helping push forward our mission. Henrik brings deep expertise in scaling healthcare services and already feels like the perfect addition to what we are building together. I couldn’t be more grateful for Ferdi, for our investors and early believers, for everyone on the team today — and all the people who helped us get here. And so, with gratitude and excitement for what’s ahead, I’ll leave you with this: We are born into this world once. With one heart, one body, one life. And one singular opportunity to experience it all. Being young. Becoming old. New beginnings, and hopeful endings. The ecstasy and intimacy. The love and loneliness. The awe. The awkwardness.
