It has been our privilege at The Florey to know and stand alongside Emma Vulin MP, who this week delivered her valedictory speech to State parliament. Professor Peter van Wijngaarden, Executive Director of The Florey, acknowledged Emma’s profound impact and wished her well as she retires from politics. "Emma has been a dear friend of The Florey. Her tireless advocacy of stroke and motor neurone disease (MND) research has inspired our staff and students and provided a source of hope for people affected by these conditions." Dr Thanuja Dharmadasa, MND clinician-researcher at The Florey, said Emma has been “extraordinarily generous” in sharing her personal story at Florey community events and via her appearance on our Brain Matters podcast. "Her openness, courage and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others affected by MND have been a powerful source of inspiration for those of us working in research and clinical care," Dr Dharmadasa said. Congratulations Emma on a tremendously successful parliamentary career. 📸: Emma pictured here during a visit to The Florey’s Young Stroke Service in 2023
