Flipkart, under its Samarth initiative, partnered with Himkara Unnayan Samiti, Directorate of Prisons & Correctional Services, Government of Himachal Pradesh, through an MoU signing on 28 April at Model Central Jail, Shimla. The partnership aims to enable the listing of handcrafted products created by inmates across prisons in Himachal Pradesh on the Flipkart marketplace. These products will be made accessible to customers across India, creating structured livelihood opportunities. The signing was attended by Abhishek Trivedi, Indian Police Service, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services, Himachal Pradesh; Dr. Ramesh Chhajta, Indian Police Service, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Himachal Pradesh; and Flipkart representatives.
