🎉 New publication! 🛰️🌿📄 Happy to share our latest paper in Science of Remote Sensing: "Hybrid FAPAR and FVC retrieval from Sentinel-3 SYNERGY with Gaussian processes: Development, validation, and cloud-readiness." Together with Dávid D.Kovács, Emma De Clerck, Luke Brown, Pablo Reyes Muñoz and Jochem Verrelst, we developed and validated the first cloud-ready Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) retrieval framework for estimating FAPAR and FVC from the Sentinel-3 SYNERGY surface reflectance product. 🌍 Key highlights: 🌱 Hybrid RTM–machine learning retrieval based on SCOPE + GPR ✅ Validation using the GBOV reference network across diverse vegetation types 📈 Performance comparable to, and in some cases exceeding, current operational CLMS products ☁️ Cloud-native implementation through openEO and the PyEOGPR package, enabling continental-scale processing with Bayesian uncertainty estimates 📖 Open access: https://lnkd.in/eNttYbk4 #EarthObservation #RemoteSensing #Sentinel3 #Copernicus #MachineLearning #GaussianProcesses #CloudComputing #OpenEO #Vegetation #FAPAR #FVC #PyEOGPR
