Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming 4th- semester mechanical engineering students from Technische Universität Chemnitz to our Penig facility as part of our ongoing collaboration with the Institute of Design and Drive Technology (German: Institut für Konstruktions- und Antriebstechnik). 🏫 During the visit, we provided insights into our work in engineering and development, highlighting how theoretical concepts - such as machine elements and gear design - translate directly into real-world applications. It was great to see how closely academic coursework aligns with practical challenges in industry. A key highlight was the plant tour, where we walked through the entire value stream - from raw material storage to machining and final assembly. The students experienced our in-house gear manufacturing up close, including live processes such as gear hobbing and profile grinding.⚙️ In addition, we explored the role of auxiliary components and discussed challenges such as thermal design - topics that go beyond the classroom and showcase the complexity of industrial applications. 👉 Our conclusion: A highly successful day, bridging the gap between theory and practice - and an encouraging sign that interest in engineering is growing again, with almost all available spots filled. We look forward to continuing to inspire the next generation of engineers! #Flender #WeMoveTheWorld #TUChemnitz #FutureTalent #IndustryMeetsAcademia
