How do you ensure that critical assets are always in the right place — without losing time searching? This challenge is central to the LOCATE COOCK+ project, recently launched by Flanders Make and Sirris | Innovation forward with industry and healthcare partners. The project builds on earlier FAIR research on AI for autonomous systems, including sensor fusion (camera + lidar) for localization. In LOCATE, these methods are extended by combining multiple localization systems, advancing towards higher maturity (TRL4 → TRL6), and applying computer vision models trained with synthetic data. Linked to the FAIR Autonomous Systems use case (https://lnkd.in/ezKHsPJx), the project brings these results into real-world environments through collaboration with industry.
