RWE bags 37.1 MWp in Germany's #solar tender. German #energy group #RWE AG (ETR:RWE) said on Monday that its two solar projects totalling 29.8 MWac/37.1 MWp have been selected in Germany's latest solar #tender. The company will build both #projects in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, installing one 14.3-MWac/17.2-MWp solar farm in the Manheimer Bucht area of the Rhein-Erft district and expanding an existing 74.6-MWac/86.5-MWp photovoltaic project alongside the A44n motorway by around 15.5 MWac/19.9 MWp. Together, these new plants will generate enough power to supply roughly 11,300 German households, RWE said. #Construction is expected to begin in the first half of 2026, subject to permitting, with commissioning planned by the end of that year. RWE already operates seven solar farms in the Rhenish region, four of them paired with #batteryenergystorage systems. The company is also considering adding batteries to the two new sites, according to Katja Wünschel, CEO RWE Renewables #Europe & Australia. The 74.6-MWac solar project along the A44n motorway between the cities of Bedburg and Juechen is currently under construction and is set to start operation by the end of 2025. Germany's latest tender for ground-mounted solar was oversubscribed, with the Federal Network Agency selecting 258 projects totalling 2,271 MW out of 313 bids for 2,820 MW. Competition kept the award prices well below the price ceiling, the Agency’s president Klaus Mueller noted. https://lnkd.in/d-Pnh7Qy
