National Athletics Success at Finborough! It has been a fantastic term of athletics at Finborough, with pupils demonstrating exceptional talent, determination and discipline across a wide range of events and competitions. Last week, our athletes travelled to the University of Cambridge athletics track to compete in the East Anglian ISA Regional Athletics Championships. Despite extremely challenging conditions (including two weather stoppages due to thunder and lightning) our pupils remained focused, resilient and determined throughout the day. Their efforts were rewarded as Finborough were crowned overall champions. This remarkable achievement saw 16 Finborough athletes qualify to represent East Anglia at the ISA National Finals in Birmingham, competing against the very best from across the country. Special mention must go to 13 year old Jacob, who broke the national Shot Putt record by 55cm with a throw of 14.03m, before also breaking another national record in Javelin with an incredible throw of 57.43m. In total, Finborough returned with 7 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze. We are immensely proud of every athlete who represented the school in such a positive way. A huge congratulations to all involved in this exceptional team achievement.
