Minister for Finance Māris Kučinskis met with Pietro Lazzeri, Switzerland’s Deputy Head of Mission to the EBRD, to discuss current EBRD developments and the implementation of the Latvia-Switzerland cooperation program. 🛡️ The discussion emphasized the need to maintain strong international support for Ukraine, particularly by promoting investment, business development, and the country’s long-term recovery. The Minister commended the EBRD’s significant role in strengthening Ukraine’s economic resilience. 📈 Discussing cooperation between Latvia and Switzerland, the minister expressed satisfaction with Switzerland’s contribution to projects of significance to Latvia. Under the second cooperation program, investments are being made in healthcare, research, and innovation, promoting long-term development and public welfare. One example is the development project for the Oncology Center at the Children’s Clinical University Hospital. The minister also emphasized that Latvia highly values Switzerland’s investments and invites Swiss companies to expand their presence in Latvia. Successful examples of cooperation are already evident in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biomedicine, and digital technologies. 🤝 Both sides highly valued their cooperation to date and expressed interest in continuing joint projects beyond 2028.
