I formed Vortex Centrum (it kind of translates as "the eye of the storm" because that's where financial crime risk and compliance officers live) in 1999 as a publishing and training adjunct to my consultancy. There were other companies to deal with particular products and services, too. Over time, we've folded most of those into Vortex Centrum but there has been one constant - our logo. It's been in various colours, it's had an odd slash across it and it's even been a kind of speedy swoosh. But we always come back to this one. It started with the idea of being a square peg in a round hole but it came to symbolise much more: the overlaying of incompatible objectives, the obstacles that risk and compliance officers face and of course the turmoil that these things bring, all while looking from the outside as if everything is in a neat and tidy order. We've used it across all our brands from World Money Laundering Report, Quick To Learn More e-learning, Please Be Informed, Financial Crime Forum and more. At the centre is the calm at the eye of the storm. I'm proud of our name and the logo and of the work that's been done, and is being done, under them. Get in touch. I'd like to bring calm to your chaos. vortexcentrum.com
