ZAM Addresses Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue The Zambia Association of Manufacturers , President, Mr. Mohammed Umar , provided a key intervention at the Multi‑Stakeholder Dialogue on the Implementation of Zambia's Critical Minerals Strategy, organized by the Natural Resource Governance Institute. Mr. Umar underscored that manufacturing is a cornerstone of the Critical Minerals Strategy 2024–2028. He noted that to meaningfully advance its value‑addition agenda, Zambia’s manufacturing must be central not only in supplying quality goods and services to the mining sector but also in driving the transformation of raw critical minerals into finished, high‑value products. He highlighted a critical challenge under SI 68, there is currently no practical differentiation between genuine Zambian manufacturers and import‑and‑supply traders. This gap undermines local content objectives, discourages investment in productive capacity, and risks pushing manufacturers toward pure trading models just to remain competitive.
