Seven stations. 6.7 kilometres of tunnel. $500 million on the table in downtown Toronto. Schneider Electric Canada has locked in the electrical and automation scope for Ontario Line South, covering switchgear, energy management systems, and tunnel ventilation automation across the full civil, stations, and tunnels package. The project is being delivered by Ontario Transit Group, a Ferrovial and VINCI joint venture, on behalf of Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario. For electrical and mechanical subcontractors in Ontario, the signal here is timing. The major equipment packages are committed, which means civil, structural, and finishing work across seven active station sites is the next wave. Tunnel ventilation installation, switchgear fit-out, and automation commissioning are specialized scopes that will need qualified trades on the ground. If you're an electrical sub with transit or industrial automation experience, positioning with OTG and Schneider Electric now, while construction is ramping, is the move. The Ontario Line is targeting 2030 completion and is projected to serve nearly 388,000 daily boardings when finished. This is one of the largest construction contracts Ferrovial has ever been awarded. The subcontract opportunity that follows a deal this size doesn't show up all at once. It unfolds over years. https://lnkd.in/eH9bvunw #BusinessNews #TradesJobs #Calgary #IndustryNews
