What does end-of-line automation really mean for West African manufacturing competitiveness? West African factories are investing millions in production capacity. And quietly losing those gains at the end of the line. We’ve seen it firsthand, where a facility hits impressive output numbers upstream, only to watch finished products pile up at packing, palletizing, and dispatch. The bottleneck was never on the production floor, it was the final 20 metres before the loading bay. That's the conversation most manufacturers in this region are not having. We talk about more machines. More shifts. Higher output. But nobody asks: what happens after the last production step? As ECOWAS trade integration opens West African markets further, speed-to-customer is becoming a bigger differentiator than production volume. A factory that can produce 10,000 units a day but takes three days to sort, inspect, pack, and dispatch them is not more competitive than a factory that produces 7,000 units and moves them in 12 hours. That gap is costing manufacturers contracts, shelf space, and margin. End-of-line automation, like smart conveyors, automated inspection, robotic palletizing, and integrated dispatch systems, closes that gap. It connects production output to customer delivery in a way that manual processes cannot match at scale. The manufacturers who will lead the next chapter of West African industrial growth are not just investing in making more. They are investing in moving faster. The question worth asking today is not "how much can we produce?" It is "how quickly can we get what we produce to the people who need it?" Because the line that defines your competitiveness is not on the production floor. It's at the end of it.
