Fichtner supports Red Sands BESS project in South Africa   The Red Sands Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project (153 MW / 612 MWh) is a utility-scale battery energy storage system currently under development near Groblershoop in South Africa’s Northern Cape province. Red Sands is Globeleq's first large-scale standalone battery energy storage project in South Africa, and in addition to the storage facility, the project includes the construction of two substations and overhead lines connecting to the Eskom grid.   Fichtner is supporting the project as Owner’s Engineer across multiple phases:   Pre-financial close: Technical advisory services, review of tender evaluation, support in contract negotiations, and further development of technical requirements, particularly for testing and commissioning Post-financial close: Construction management and supervision throughout the 27-month construction period, including design review, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and continuous on-site presence   The scope of work also includes quality assurance of design and construction, support during testing and commissioning, and coordination among key project stakeholders.   #Fichtner #BESS #EnergyStorage #Infrastructure #ProjectManagement #SouthAfrica
