As part of the 8th European Agroforestry Congress (European Agroforestry Federation (EURAF)) in Neuchâtel, a group of 25 international agroforestry practitioners and researchers visited FiBL’s agroforestry demonstration site 🌳. The visit was part of a field trip organised in collaboration with Agridea - La centrale de vulgarisation agricole and FiBL. Through agroforestry systems, farmers seek to harness complexity whilst promoting biodiversity and further enhancing the value of their produce. The shared aim is to create diversified farming systems that also incorporate fruit growing. To explore traditional and modern agroforestry systems in north-western Switzerland, the group visited the Farnsburg orchard – a project involving around 30 farmers in collaboration with BirdLife Schweiz / Suisse / Svizzera – as well as the community-based agricultural initiative ‘Eulenhof’. Over lunch at the FiBL restaurant, the group was able to sample an innovative agroforestry burger made from hazelnuts 🌰 , while also learn more about the concept. 👉 More about the Congress: https://lnkd.in/dxP8J26z
