Urban water networks are the hardest environments on Earth to detect a leak. That is exactly why FiberSense built its detection capability to deliver a net economic benefit on trunk mains in noisy cities, where a slow leak can become a catastrophic burst before anyone knows it exists. Solving the hard problem first has a compounding effect. A system calibrated to perform in a dense, noisy urban network finds leaks in quieter environments almost as a byproduct. Our current deployments reflect that: • Greater than 80% leak and burst detection success rate • More than 10 leaks detected per 100 km of monitored pipe • Over 1 million litres saved per day through earlier intervention A system that finds leaks under quiet rural roads, on brand-new fiber, with minimal interference, is doing exactly what you'd expect. That is proof of conditions, not capabilities. We have written about what real-world DAS performance looks like, and why where you test matters more than what you find.
