We polled 101 MPs and 2,118 UK adults views on four issues that will define the UK's energy debate over the next 18 months. The gaps we found should concern anyone trying to influence energy policy right now. The public's position is more nuanced than Westminster tends to acknowledge. They want pragmatic answers. They are sceptical of costs. And they are paying close attention to their bills. On data centres, the future of the North Sea and network investment, public and parliamentary opinion points in different directions. Energy companies have an opportunity to step into this opening – and reframe their stories to win support against the backdrop of volatile politics.
