If you look closely at how modern systems are built, a pattern appears. Every memory decision is a trade-off. - SRAM delivers speed, but at high cost, constant power leakage, and limited density. - DRAM scales better and is widely used, yet it loses data the moment power is removed. - Flash retains information, but its latency keeps it far from the processor. Each technology solves one problem while creating another. Speed, cost, power, and persistence rarely align in a single solution. These compromises define today’s architectures. Reducing them, rather than choosing between them, is what will shape the next generation of computing.
