Eight masks, sculpted digitally from scratch for SamuraiFarai, October 2024: Mwari, Vadzimu, Ndeemba, Shumba, Wabele, Punu Okuyi, Bwa Sun, Dan Gle. I designed from one drawing each and sculpted each one in 3D, they were 3D printed by 3DForm Farm, and then carved into wood by hand from those prints. There's a particular discipline in sculpting something you know someone else will carve, every angle has to make sense as a cut a blade can actually make, not just a surface that renders well. You're not designing for a screen, you're designing for a hand.
