AI 🤝 accelerators Particle accelerators are some of the most powerful tools that humanity has ever built, playing a critical role in advancing discoveries in physics, chemistry, materials science and biology. But accelerators are also incredibly complicated. They take years to build and rely on hundreds of interconnected systems working in harmony to deliver particle beams. To help address this complexity, Fermilab is joining six other national labs on MOAT, or the Multi-Office particle Accelerator Team. MOAT is creating a unified advanced artificial intelligence system that is incorporated into the entire life cycle of particle accelerators to increase efficiency and innovation. MOAT is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's Genesis Mission, a historic effort to accelerate scientific discovery by advancing AI.
