These last few weeks we have learned even more about how much information we have at our fingertips. Making us appreciate the "instant" nature of our world. Whether it be a streaming show or the answer to an equation. Jennifer Mata is learning this first hand as she works on transferring C.H. Fenstermaker's original field index notes into digital form. "I have had the pleasure recently to help record some of our history! It’s been so interesting to see C.H. Fenstermaker’s work and his old field index notes (this photo is from his 1953 book). What I found so interesting is that he has created spreadsheets by hand with very precise notes and lines well ahead of the first “excel” spreadsheet you and I know today. To imagine how much time and dedication it must have taken to draw and write out each line on each page! May we never take for granted the current technologies and luxuries we have today after seeing this beautiful piece of the Fenstermaker history."
