In a world dominated by performance, this film was such a powerful reminder of how important it is to be your authentic self. At the pre-screening of “Is This Thing On?” at The Soho hotel, London, I told John Bishop, yes, the comedian, how much of a legend he is to me for speaking so freely about the most mundane things and making people laugh 😆. He was so humble 🙌 and genuinely listened to what I was saying. When I asked for a photo and mentioned we work on a special needs management platform, his response was simply: “Let’s get it.” What a moment! This went far beyond comedy for me. It made me think about education - what would happen if we truly taught children to understand their emotions, communicate respectfully, and deal with consequences in a healthy way. I normally spend so much time on planning, organising, closing mental loops, moving things forward - no matter what I’m doing. But not this time. For 2 full hours, I was really present. Engaged. Laughing. Living in the moment. Nothing can beat that. Imagine teaching this in the classroom. Big thank you to Gunnar Papendick Larsen from the Danish-UK Association for the invitation, and to Duchess Nivin ElGamal of Lamberton الدوقة نيڤين الجمل for attending.
