🗞️ Brilliant to see the FMB's Licence to Build campaign featured in the i today - and for a story that couldn't make the case more powerfully. 61 year old Mary Lukins, who lives with MS, used her pension to fund vital home adaptations. A rogue builder took over £22,000, collapsed her drains, devastated her home then vanished. She couldn't use her toilet for a year! She reported it to police, Trading Standards, the council and the Local Government Ombudsman. Every door was closed. As FMB Chief Executive Brian Berry says: "Mary did everything right but was still failed." This is the reality of an unregulated industry. No licensing. No checks.
