Today, the FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for a topical powder to prevent and treat New World screwworm (NWS) infestations in multiple animal species. https://lnkd.in/efkRuD7g Importantly, the agency concluded based on the available scientific evidence, it is reasonable to believe that this product may be effective in multiple species, including cattle, swine, goats, sheep, horses, donkeys, domestic hybrid equids (such as mules), as well as captive wild, exotic, and zoo mammals and should only be used by authorized personnel. This authorization represents an important step in supporting animal health and mitigating the impact of NWS.
