Your performance review should NOT be a surprise. If your first time talking about promotion is at year-end, you’re already too late.   Here’s what I recommend for early-career engineers:   ✅ Keep a “brag file” - problems you solved - metrics you improved - projects you supported - kudos you received - risks you prevented   ✅ Turn that into 5 bullets (monthly) “I reduced…” “I improved…” “I supported…” “I led…” “I owned…”   ✅ Use it in your 1:1 Not bragging. Just clarity. Most engineers don’t do this, which is why they struggle to explain their value. 💡 P.S. If your manager doesn't do regular 1:1s with you, take the initiative and set one up yourself. Use this opportunity to talk through your career goals, and next steps to help you get there. ➕ Follow Farhan Mahmood, P.Eng, PMP for more insights to help with your career journey. 🗣️ If this post resonated with you, please like, comment and repost! #Promotion #PerformanceReview #CareerGrowth #Mentorship
