Automating Manufacturing Logistics: Advanced Material Blank Loading System Looking back at a major project I tackled during my time in Molding Department at Darson! I engineered this comprehensive mechanical assembly and animation to solve a high-impact manufacturing bottleneck: transitioning from manual material handling to automated loading. The core objective of this setup is to automate the loading of material blanks into a high-density Multi-Cavity Mold. By removing manual labor from this repetitive phase, the system drastically improves cycle time, ensures operator safety, and maintains consistent mold thermal efficiency. Engineered and animated completely in SOLIDWORKS, the assembly demonstrates: 🔹 Multi-Axis Automated Feed: Precise X and Y-axis mechanical sequencing to transport and position the material blanks. 🔹 Pneumatic & Vacuum Actuation: An integrated network of pneumatic pipe circuits, cylinders, and solenoid valves driving a custom-engineered suction fixture matrix to securely grip and release the blanks. 🔹 High-Precision Alignment: Automated alignment handling to guarantee that blanks are flawlessly nested onto the mold cavities before the press cycle initiates. Reflecting on this project reminds me how powerful the integration of mechanical CAD design and fluid power automation is for maximizing factory floor throughput. I'd love to hear from fellow automation and design engineers—what are your go-to strategies for reducing cycle times in heavy molding environments? #SOLIDWORKS #DassaultSystemes #MechanicalEngineering #Automation #IndustrialDesign #CAD #MoldingTechnology #MachineDesign #Robotics #ManufacturingEngineering
