⚔️ Cord Blood Strikes Back For years, cord blood has been recognized as a valuable source of stem cells for transplantation. Today, however, a new chapter is being written. Across Europe, advances in cellular therapies, regenerative medicine, and translational research are redefining its potential. This topic was at the center of a dedicated educational session during the meeting of the Polish Society of Paediatric Oncology and Haematology, moderated by Prof. Katarzyna Drabko & Krzysztof Kałwak, Chair of the EBMT Paediatric Diseases Working Party. The session explored how innovation is reshaping the future of advanced therapies, with a particular focus on: 🔹 the evolving role of cord blood in medicine by Emilian Snarski 🔹 emerging strategies for the clinical application of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs), by prof. Krzysztof Czyżewski 🔹 advances in stem cell-based therapies, 🔹 and the concept of Banking 2.0 – a forward-looking approach to biobanking designed to support the therapeutic needs of tomorrow. Among the speakers, Tomasz Baran, Chief Medical Officer of FamiCord, shared insights into how scientific progress, clinical experience, and biobanking infrastructure can work together to expand future treatment opportunities for patients. As Europe continues to invest in advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) and next-generation cellular therapies, collaboration between clinicians, researchers, and biobanks becomes increasingly important. Discussions such as these help bridge innovation and clinical practice, ensuring that promising scientific developments can ultimately translate into meaningful patient benefit. The future of cellular therapy is not a distant vision. It is already being built—through science, collaboration, and the responsible preservation of biological resources. #PBKM #CordBloodStrikesBack #EBMT #CellTherapy #ATMP #CordBlood #StemCells #MSC #RegenerativeMedicine #Biobanking #Banking20 #PaediatricHaematology #PaediatricOncology #AdvancedTherapies
