🌱 Cool science from wood balls baked in the oven ♨️ Happy to share our latest research on wood-derived sphere-like biochar granules as a next-gen electrode platform for bed electrodes. A huge shoutout to Shabnam Pouresmaeil 👏 being affiliated to Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ)and DBFZ Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gemeinnützige GmbH for leading this innovative study with highest dedication. The work on developing geometrically defined, reproducible granular electrodes is paving the way for more efficient and scalable bioelectrochemical systems. The uniform NiMo modification decreased the HER overpotential by 85% - remarkable result that highlights the potential of controlled electrode engineering! This collaboration wouldn’t have been possible without the great contributions of Jan Griebel and Andrea Prager Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM) and the brilliant lead of Jörg Kretzschmar from Hochschule Zittau/Görlitz. Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of sustainable electrochemistry and CO₂ valorization. #SustainableChemistry #Electrochemistry #CO2Conversion #Biochar #MET #Collaboration #Innovation https://lnkd.in/eWb59Qzb
