Last week, Fairmarkit joined Baringa, ORO Labs, and Candex in London for an evening with senior procurement leaders, and it started with a question that cut straight to it: everyone's bought AI. Is procurement actually feeling richer for it? The honest answer from the room: only when it's paired with commercial accountability, a willingness to fix broken processes, and the discipline to measure outcomes over activity. What struck us most wasn't a debate about technology. The most forward-thinking teams in the room aren't asking "what can AI do?" They're deciding what kind of commercial capability they want to build and working backwards to the tools. That's the conversation procurement needs more of. Thanks to everyone who showed up and pushed the thinking. Big shout-out to Caspian Conran, Lance Younger, Alexander Orchard, Berkay Yöndemli, Jamie Ogilvie-Smals, Ryan Torr, David Santiago, George Yiannelis and Veronika Strausova!
