Cannes was not meant to be. I had everything lined up. The flights, the plans, the meetings. This was going to be a big week. And then, life had other ideas. We received news of a passing in the family. Suddenly, Cannes didn't matter anymore. The flights, the meetings, the plans — none of it. You close the laptop, you put down the phone, and you go be with your people. And as if the universe was underlining the message — my friend and partner Krishna had his flight cancelled due to storms in Montreal. Neither of us made it. Sometimes no matter how much you plan, how much you prepare, how much you anticipate — fate has already written a different story for you. You can't negotiate with it. You can't outsmart it. You can't outplan it. Life throws curveballs for reasons we don't always understand in the moment. Maybe you're not meant to be somewhere. Maybe you're exactly where you need to be. The silver lining isn't always visible right away — sometimes you just have to trust it's there. There is something deeply humbling about moments like these. They strip away everything that felt urgent and important, and remind you of what actually is. No conference, no deal, no networking event will ever compete with the things that truly matter. I've stopped questioning it. When life redirects you this firmly, the only response is to surrender gracefully and trust that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. You can plan the journey. But you cannot challenge fate. And the best part of all? I get to spend Father's Day with my father and my kids. Nothing beats that. Nothing. Happy Father's Day to all of the LinkedIn fathers! A special shoutout to all the fathers at Trellis — thank you for everything you do, both at home and at work. Happy Father's Day to each and every one of you.
