Born this day (24 Jul 1856 ): Émile Picard a French mathematician who made significant contributions in the field of analysis and analytic geometry. Picard successfully revived the method of successive approximations to prove existence of solutions to differential equations. He also created a theory of linear differential equations, analogous to the Galois theory of algebraic equations. #scientist #science #mathematics
