Congratulations to our colleague Dr. Nicole Gervais on receiving an NWO ENW M1 grant of EUR 400,000 for her research into how the brain adapts to hormonal changes during menopause. Her project explores an important question at the intersection of neuroscience, women’s health, and ageing: how can estrogen-modulating treatments impair memory while also lowering the risk of Alzheimer’s disease? By studying the brain’s adaptation to ovarian hormone loss, this research aims to deepen our understanding of memory, resilience, and healthy ageing.
