14 researchers from SUND recently received funding from Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy for their projects – congratulations to you all, and thank you for the support! ✨✨✨ 👉🏻 This year, Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy has allocated DKK 36.8 million to 39 new research projects, including 17 PhD scholarships, 15 postdoctoral fellowships and 7 visiting researcher grants in diabetes, metabolism and hormonal health. Project title: The Importance of Glycemic Control for the Development of Early Retinal Abnormalities in Children and Adolescents with Diabetes. 🔬 Aretia-Teodora Malacopol (PhD Scholarship). Project title: Harnessing Endogenous Retrovirus-Based Immunotherapy for Metabolic Syndrome Treatment (Treatment HERO). 🔬 Cecilie Kynding Kristensen (PhD Scholarship). Project title: Long-Acting Growth Hormone in Metabolic Regulation: mechanistic characterization and therapeutic opportunities to improve weight loss quality. 🔬 Cecilie Bæch-Laursen, Ph.D (Posdoctoral Fellowship). Project title: A human-centric approach to discover non-incretin obesity targets. 🔬 Christian Rimer Juhl (Posdoctoral Fellowship). Project title: Characterising Parent Driven Bio-Behavioural Phenotypes to Predict Treatment Response in Family Obesity. 🔬 Flora Thomassen (PhD Scholarship). Project title: Breaking Barriers: Decoding the Gut-Brain Axis in Obesity-Linked Neurodegeneration. 🔬 Jared Rutter (Visiting Researcher). Project title: Metabolite regulators of disease-relevant signaling proteins. 🔬 Johan Platz (PhD Scholarship). Project title: Gut Barrier Integrity as the defining factor for obesity-associated systemic inflammation. 🔬 Jónvá Hentze (PhD Scholarship). Project title: Testing a novel GLUT4 localization-centric model of human muscle insulin resistance. 🔬 Kristine Svinning Valeur (PhD Scholarship). Project title: Diabetic retinopathy and nephropathy – can the eye see the future of the kidney. 🔬 Maria Boelman (PhD Scholarship). Project title: Clinical and genetic characterization of Hereditary Endocrine Tumour Syndromes (the HETS-study). 🔬 Marina Sangés Ametllé (PhD Scholarship). Project title: Investigating early glycemic deviations through generative AI and integrative glycoprofiling technologies. 🔬 Professor Pål Rasmus Njølstad (Visiting Researcher). Project title: Genetic and metabolic modifiers of hyperglycemia: Functional and clinical evaluation of HNF1A A98V in Danish and Norwegian cohorts. 🔬 Sine Paasch Schiellerup (PhD Scholarship).
