UniMelb's Laureate Professor Emeritus Graeme Clark AC is one of five scientists and engineers awarded the 2026 Richard N. Merkin Prize in Biomedical Technology for developing the modern cochlear implant. The $400,000 USD prize, administered by the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is shared among Professor Emeritus Clark, Professor Emeritus Erwin Hochmair, Dr Ingeborg Hochmair, Professor Emeritus Michael Merzenich and Dr Blake Wilson. 🔗  The Graeme Clark Institute for Biomedical Engineering celebrates the Merkin prize as it highlights the importance of research teams helping to take their research to a wider industrial development.
