Did you know that your skin has its own body clock? ⏰☀️ We’ve known that years of chronic sun exposure can impact your skin on the surface, leading to visible wrinkles and fine lines. But the sun may be affecting our skin in more ways than we previously realised. A new study has revealed that exposure also sees changes across all three layers of the skin, including disruption to its natural body clock. Lead researcher Professor Qing-Jun Meng from The University of Manchester explains, “Chronic UV light exposure is linked to weaker body clocks, and earlier rhythms, suggesting that our skin body clocks could be disrupted or reprogrammed, which could have important implications on skin health.” With UV levels higher in the summer months, it’s important to wear protection.
