“The question is no longer ‘Why digitize?’ but rather ‘How can we make it operational?’”   This was one of the key messages from Emma Wehrwein’s presentation today at FACIS Connect. There, she unveiled the results of the new FACIS survey, “Unlocking New Digital Business Models in Europe 2026.”   The findings, based on a May 2026 survey of 800 industrial SME decision-makers across Europe, show that Europe’s companies are ready to embrace the digital future.   📊 92% of European industrial SMEs plan to introduce new digital business models within the next three years.   However, turning ambition into execution remains challenging. Cybersecurity and data protection concerns, high costs, and regulatory complexity continue to slow implementation.   📊 Another notable finding is that, although 76 % of companies consider partnerships essential for digital growth, only 5 % are currently active in or coordinating digital ecosystems.   As Emma Wehrwein noted: “Europe has the ambition, but scaling it up is difficult.”   As AI, cloud, edge computing, and data exchange become increasingly interconnected, Europe’s competitiveness will depend less on individual technologies and more on the ability to connect them across providers, industries, and borders.   One of the most thought-provoking ideas presented today was the concept of “cloud roaming”: What if digital services could move across Europe as seamlessly as mobile connectivity does today?   The message is clear: Europe’s future competitiveness will not be determined by who builds the biggest platform. Rather, it’ll be determined by who enables the most effective collaboration.   👉 Explore the survey findings: https://lnkd.in/eTnABF7S   👇 Stay tuned in the comments for more highlights, insights, and key takeaways from Day 2 of FACIS Connect.   #Connectingminds #FACISConnect #DigitalEurope #AI #Interoperability #DigitalCollaboration #CloudEdge #DigitalSovereignty #DigitalBusinessModels
