Everyone thinks AI will replace the jobs they don't do themselves. Engineers think PMs are just roadmap managers. PMs think engineers just write code. Both think designers just make Figma files. If that's your mental model, yes, those jobs are replaceable. But that's not what the best people in those roles actually do. The best PM decides what to build and why. Not by writing PRDs, but by intimately knowing customers, and turning their pain and market signals into a bet worth making. The best engineer identifies and solves problems that have no obvious solution. Not just implementing specs, but using creativity to build out what's only now technically possible. The best designer shapes how your customer thinks about their problems. Not just how the UI looks, but whether the customer understands their problem differently because of it. AI accelerates execution but it does not replace judgment. The roles that will disappear are the ones that were always just proxies for the real job. #ai #productmanagement #design #engineering
