2021 has been a record breaking year for Berenberg with more than 100 ECM transactions in Europe. Despite challenging market conditions, we surpassed our 2020 record, continuing the growth of the Investment Bank in European Capital Markets. Thanks to our longstanding relationships, as well as new partners, we have expanded into new regions this year such as France, Italy, Spain and the Nordics, executing several equity transactions and IPOs for our clients. Among the significant events this year were the following: > Berenberg participated in almost 50% of IPOs in the DACH region with FRIEDRICH VORWERK Unternehmensgruppe, Vantage Towers, PolyPeptide Group, Montana Aerospace, Mister Spex, BIKE24, Novem Group and SKAN AG, alongside 9 capital raisings. > The largest capital increase via ABO in Europe this year with Siemens Healthineers alongside the spin-off of Daimler Truck AG and the sustainable-linked senior unsecured note for Hapag-Lloyd AG. > 3 European SPACs, including the first ESG SPAC in Europe (ESG Core Investments) the largest German Technology SPAC (468 Capital SPAC I) and the first European operator-led SPAC dedicated to healthcare (European Healthcare Aquisition and Growth Company). > Berenberg has been involved in three of the top five best-performing IPOs in the UK this year with Darktrace, Oxford Nanopore Technologies and Supreme, alongside 19 capital raisings and 4 secondary trades. > 14 out of 15 transactions as Global Coordinator in the Benelux region with the EKOPAK and Biotalys NV IPOs in Belgium as well as NX Filtration and MotorK IPOs in the Netherlands. > The largest ABO on Euronext Brussels this year with Lotus Bakeries. > In France, 3 IPOs which included AFYREN the first IPO ever of a French Tech 120 company (outside Next 40), Forsee Power and Groupe Berkem. >Berenberg also partnered with Veolia for their rights issue and was Sole Bookrunner on the sale of shares in Eurazeo on behalf of Tikehau Capital. > In the Nordics, we completed 2 IPOs in Norway and Sweden with SmartCraft ASA and Nilar respectively, and partnered with Embracer Group and Stillfront Group again for their directed share issue. > The largest 2021 Spanish IPO of ACCIONA Energía and the 3 secondary blocks in Fluidra in 2021. > Finally, we completed our first IPO in Italy with the listing of The Italian Sea Group S.p.A.
