This week marks 50 years since the Australia–Japan Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. Signed in 1976, the Treaty laid the foundation for a partnership built on trust, shared values and mutual prosperity. Five decades on, our two countries are close partners in the Indo‑Pacific, and we continue to deepen cooperation across government, business and community. At Export Finance Australia, we recognise the importance of strong bilateral ties in supporting trade, investment and resilient supply chains. Initiatives like the Australia–Japan Leadership Dialogue and the work of the Australia–Japan Foundation will help drive the next chapter of this enduring partnership. Here’s to the next 50 years of friendship and cooperation. #AustraliaJapan #Trade #IndoPacific #Partnership
